Pondering Faith

Welcome to the Future

I have looked forward to 2010 for a long time. I have always been a science fiction fan, and even when I was little, I knew that 2010 was the year that we were supposed to make contact. I do not know what is in store for 2010, but I can say: Welcome to the future.

This is the future in so many ways. Some of the innovations that we have today are simply amazing when compared to what I had when I was little. For example, I am awed by all things wireless. Phones and computers are some of the greatest gizmos ever.

Not only do we have better gizmos, but we also get along better as a people. There is a song out that sums up my feelings on this subject quite well. It is a country/western song by Brad Paisley, called Welcome to the Future (click to hear it).

I think we can celebrate a lot, as a people. We have come a long way. I am proud to be a part of this future. Of course, we have a long way to go. With God’s help, may we continue to grow in love and faith well in to the future.

What is your favorite invention today that you did not have when you were a child?

On a side note, I am excited about one particular date in the future… Cindy and I are going to see Brad Paisley in concert in February. I’ll get to hear that song in person 🙂
