Pondering Faith

Me and Congregational Vitality

At our Annual Conference today, I was appointed to the Conference Office as the Director of Congregational Vitality. The most common question I get when I tell people this is, “What will you be doing?” That is a very long and complicated answer. I will try to boil it down for now, and will be writing more about this in the months ahead…

As the Director of Congregational Vitality, I will establish a process of partnering with viable churches that have plateaued or are in decline, and develop resources needed to help these churches become healthier, thriving congregations.

I am looking forward to this work, and I am thankful to Bishop Leeland and the cabinet for giving me this opportunity. I love working with the laity and clergy of our conference and cannot wait to begin this new phase of my ministry!

Welcome to Church and tea! My name is Dan. I am the Director of Congregational Vitality for the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. This is where I do some reflecting out loud, usually over a glass of sweet tea. Feel free to pour yourself a glass and join me!
